This was my very first race, and I was a complete beginner. After reading a book called Spark, I felt inspired to start running — but I had no idea what I was doing. Fueled entirely by ego, I showed up in basketball shorts and barefoot shoes, carrying no water and taking no supplements. It was absolute madness! The race ended up being the hardest physical challenge I had ever faced.
This was my wifes first and only half marathon.
