This race marked my return from a running hiatus—with little to no training under my belt.
I made every rookie mistake in the book. I had beers the night before, my diet leading up to the race was garbage, and in a moment of desperation, I put all my faith in the event-sponsored gels and electrolytes. Big mistake.
By kilometer 18, my stomach was in full revolt—I was on the verge of puking and/or shitting myself. Easily one of my worst races to date.
